Annoying amount of time off school or dead kids, which would you prefer.
You should never drive if you are scared of even the tiniest of percentages of anything ever happening.

Our area is a joke lol
It’s all fun and games until your kid is still on the school bus at 6:30 pm. Then, y’all want to sue the district for not anticipating delays on local roads.
Who is on the school bus at 6:30?
Anonymous wrote:It’s 39 degrees and a 35% chance of light showers at 5pm. All night sports cancelled for that?!?
At this rate we will be off for 3 days for 4” of snow next week.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:It's after-school activities. MCPS will cancel these at the drop of a hat and has done for decades because it has a low impact on the vast majority of people and it's an easy way for them to play it safe and avoid liability. The decision-making is different than canceling actual instruction and the bar is much lower because there is pretty much only upside for them (e.g. some idiot crashes his Range Rover into a tree driving to an optional school play and sues them). Why anyone is surprised or upset is baffling to me.
Because high school sports are delayed enough and will be delayed all next week. A lot of games, meets, and matches cancelled today/tonight for absolutely no reason

A kid got hit by a driver trying to blow around a stopped school bus in Howard county a few years ago. I think we should just ban school busses to be safe. Or ban school entirely. I mean sometimes it rains and we know that rain decreases visibility. Better safe than sorry.
If you disagree with me it’s because you want children to die.

First time MCPS parent here. Does Bar-T usually stay open? Trying to avoid a situation where my kid is dismissed at the end of the school day and I’m not there to pick her up…
Bar-T is amazing and stays open as long as they can safely do so. They are many times also open on days that school is closed (but admin offices are open) like 2 hour delays etc. or other weather related days that are full day school closure. For up to date info, I'd email/text the coordinator at your school, look on the Bar-T website and/or Facebook page. I don't know what we'd do without Bar-T!

You absolutely must plan for this very real possibility.
