It does make me feel really old because I remember when I started working it was 65 cents for a cup of coffee at your average deli. I’m 52. Using just general inflation numbers that cheap cup of coffee should only be about $1.40 today.
I think there have been major issues with coffee plantations in Mexico and Central America though — that market sort of collapsed a while ago and then I think climate change is impacting the African coffee suppliers. There’s probably someone that knows more about this….

Espresso with steamed milk is a premium coffee drink made by trained baristas. Drip coffee from a container should be cheap.

This morning I got a small coffee from the Whole Foods self-serve machine in the bakery area and it rang up as $2.50. It’s like a digital made to order automatic coffee cup machine. Unsure if these are in all stores? It was using WF organic beans.

I just buy lattes all the time and never think about it.
