Why not a summer job at a camp? My son did that for two years in high school and college.

Why wouldn’t a high school counselor want to share this? Generally they are in their job to help kids have access to opportunities.

My kid worked at a grocery store and played baseball.
Mine is mostly interested in video games. But he has to get a job this summer. I don't know if it's the best for college applications, but it will be an essential part of getting ready for life.
