Ultimate goal is UGA probably (deferred) so need to visit these in the meantime.

+1 South Carolina beat Clemson in football and basketball this year. Great school spirit in Columbia.
Clemson leads they series 77-44-4 South Carolina will always be the little brother.
SC was founded first which makes Clemson little brother.

You are correct that Clemson is in the middle of nowhere and outside of the school there really is nothing to do nearby. Yes, it's 50 min from Greenville but there's basically nothing there either. If your kid really wants to go there have them spend some extended time there to see if being that isolated is something they're ok with.

Is the person who keeps commenting about how awful Columbia is, just trying to get all of those who were deferred to take it off their list so their kid gets in? Parts of Columbia-yes, not so great-at all. Other parts are nice. loved part around campus and area where restaurants/bars/shops are. It was bustling with kids, business people, and general people coming and going from their employment. Stadium area-the pits
