The question is whether Bethesda’s version of U12 Pre-ECNL (very closely linked to ECNL and other ECNL clubs) and the Virginia ECNL clubs’ version of U12 Pre-ECNL (VPSL) are treated the same for purposes of the above-referenced March 1 date. There clearly is a lot of movement between ECNL clubs each year, and it’s hard to believe that process doesn’t begin each year until 3/1. Does that date even apply to current U12 players?

If you read the full text of Exhibit C: "Designated Tryout Dates" in the 2024-2025 ECNL Competition Rules document (https://docs.google.com/document/d/19i_HAUsN75dvDyLkg76QK9mQYbZ_MIbj/edit), it specifically defines alternate DTD dates for several states/regions/conferences/leagues. There's no specific mention of MD clubs in the MA Conference. Only VA and NC. Also, there's no general reference to DMV or anything of that sort so I think it's not unreasonable to assume that the defacto date of May 1 applies to Bethesda.

PP here. I just read the following in Exhibit D: "Pre-ECNL Requirements":

"Recruiting: Players registered in the Pre-ECNL are not covered by Rule 2.13 of the ECNL regarding recruiting, tryouts, and registration".

So then the answer is those dates do *NOT* apply to U12 players.

PA guy who just posted and thanks for this. I wasn't sure either way.

Damm bro you driving from PA to practice at Bethesda? Wow effort.

If you are traveling more than 100 miles to play soccer before that age of 15-16 then you are in fact being played. Competition is literally the least important thing for these core development years.
