My kid plays outside, she’s 12 now. Played basketball with friends for 3 hours yesterday.
After school it might be a dark issue as well though. I would be more reluctant to have mine walking around dark streets at 5pm whereas in the summer that’s not an issue.

All weather is ok if they have the appropriate gear and come in before getting frostbite. Your neighborhood parents are weenies if 40 is the minimum temperature required for playing outside!

Its not too cold but it does get dark quickly these days. My son still plays outside but not as frequently. If its windy or wet he will not. I would say send your kids out and see if anyone else wants to join them.

But yes - people around here think under fifty means it’s cold. So there will be less playing outside.
Perhaps the kids are blaming the weather but, don't want to play with op's kids? And not 'all people' think that below 50 is too cold to play!
Np. Go to any playground this weekend. It’s noticeably less busy and will continue to empty out as the weather gets colder.
It’s probably a safe bet to blame the weather over other kids suddenly developing a dislike for OP’s kids.

They can be out in the mid-teens. Dress them for it, especially if they are a little older.
Kids in parts of Canada have outdoor recess until about -15 F. It's fine.

Honestly I find both sides of this weird. Playing with kids in the neighborhood isn't childcare, but it's also not something the other kids are obligated to do if they don't want to because it's cold.

I grew up in Michigan - guess what we did on the days school was cancelled because it was too cold? We played outside.
*Before some sheltered mommy jumps on me, school was usually cancelled on these days because it was too cold for the busses to start, not because it was too cold to go outside. It was, however, frequently 10 degrees or lower on those days. We survived!

Ya'll are soft. Unless it is in the teens (farenheit) kids can wear appropriate clothing and go outside and play.

One, ADHD is not an insult. Two, it's weird that you think children who play outside must have ADHD. Three, playing outdoors is actually beneficial for children's vision. My child sees an ophthalmologist and was told to spend lots of time outside by the eye doctor and it actually has helped.

What in the world do ome of you think kids in cold climates do? They bundle up and go outside. They should be fine below zero if they are dressed for it, and haven't been convinced that it's too cold. They don't need to be out for hours.
Op send yours out, maybe others will get brave and join in. No reason they can't be out in -10 or more.
