I would do it, and I would not contact the parents. If they contacted me I would answer honestly.

As someone who grew up with a ridiculously strict parent who made up rules on the fly, please tell the parent. If my mom found out she’d let me go to a friends house and there’s been no parent home, she’d have been furious and grounded me for months, and also never let me hang out with your kid again.
