I'm so sick of all the dietary restrictions and whining. You know what thanksgiving is. If you show up, deal with it. Or bring your own food. I wouldn't go out of my way to cook another entire main dish. F off.

NP. I voted for Harris and I agree with the PP. Thanksgiving is not the time to impose your dietary requirements unexpectedly on someone.

I highly doubt anyone is imposing. Most of us with food allergies or dietary restrictions just eat before we arrive.

Some do, some don't. Those that impose are the worst.

I'm a vegetarian and don't impose. I eat before or after and have sides. But then don't come whining that I didn't taste everything at your perfectly curated table.

How is NOT eating something imposing on you, exactly?

If someone announces to me, at a meal that is generally set, like Thanksgiving, that they only eat fish, then I as the host feel compelled to add another dish to my already groaning table. I'd rather they kept their trap shut and ate what they could.

Right, because you're so gracious and sensitive to the needs of your guests. That really comes across in your post.

None of the sides etc you listed seem particularly filling. I would add a casserole, quinoa/rice dish, or Mac n cheese.

I'd add smoked salmon with toast points or shrimp cocktail to the table.

How about some tinned fish? I am not pescatarian but I love really good tinned fish! Patagonia makes some really delicious smoked Mackerel...

Tell them to bring their own or get the steamed whole fish Cantonese style from the local Chinese place.

I would not think a pescatarian would expect fish on TG. Its TG!

I think you're fine with it as is, but if you did want a fish, something like a sablefish/black cod would be nice. Super easy to cook and very forgiving and feels a little fancier (to me) than salmon.

Anonymous wrote:I think your menu looks very nice, but wow, do I love the idea of a smoked salmon board!

The Native Americans smoked fish and it is likely seafood was a part of the early Thanksgiving meals. Maybe not salmon, but it's close enough for government work. Smoked eel would be closer but guests might have a problem with that much accuracy.

One is a dear friend. Another is MIL, whom I don’t get really like, but whatever. Neither are imposing thankfully.

You get tofurkey to say “F U” to your vegan family members? How lovely you must be.

Seriously that is very rude. Choosing not to eat turkey is not a reason to be insulted.
