I did (door to door) 50-75 minutes pre-pandemic 5 days a week. I was numb to the difficulty. 20/20 hindsight I would never do that again. As I worked long hours it meant being away from home min 12 hours a day. Leaving the house at 7am to arrive home at 7pm it if I was lucky and one or two days a week arriving home at 9pm. (Swing shift parenting - I did drop off, husband did pick up sucked). I would make different choices now, would have teleworked more and gotten an au pair instead of aftercare. Best of luck to young people figuring it all out. I am 100 remote now.

15-20 mins. I like to be close to kids in case they get sick or something. My spouse has a longer commute - 50 minutes and likes it because it’s their “me time”.

30 minutes or less sounds good. I could do an hour commute on a short-term basis for a few months.

I had a 2 hour commute each way, and it was too much to do for more than few months.

These days I max out on an hour each way. Ideally it would be less than 45 minutes each way.

Depends on mode of transport. I won't drive more than 20 minutes. But I'd be willing to do up to 45 minutes on a train or bus, assuming they are very reliable. Passive commutes are actually pleasant to me -- I can read a book or listen to music and it functions as leisure time.

Agree, I'm confused. I feel like everyone on DCUM is saying the youngsters need to live far out and commute to work, and yet no one seems to be doing it
