But, MAGA don't want low skilled workers, so they do expect American born to take on those low paying jobs. MAGA want to allow in highly skilled workers, those people who will compete for high paying jobs with you and your kids.
Corporations have deep pockets, and they will ensure that Trump doesn't turn off that spigot of low paid, high skilled workers.
If there were enough neurosurgeons, engineers and high-level researchers to recruit within the US, no corporation would hire immigrants. Americans don't have the skills!!!!!
It really depends on the role. Yes in specialized medicine, sometimes an immigrant is truly your only option -- those people are in extremely high demand and it can take a decade or more to get the training you need to do the job. No wonder there is a shortage. Same with certain engineering specialties where American universities just do not offer these specialties or there aren't enough programs to meet demand (I've heard of this being true in certain specialties of hydraulics engineering for instance where there are African universities that have almost cornered the market on these jobs -- the US has to invest in those technologies if we want our citizens to be able to compete for those jobs).
But a lot of the jobs in banking and finance that are given to H-1B visa recipients? It's a bit of a scam. You don't think the US has enough citizens with econ degrees to fill those jobs? We do. But it's cheaper and easier to hire immigrants from India who have bog standard econ degrees from US universities or foreign universities. This is really not a necessity but the banks sure like it because it keeps the cost of this workforce down and makes it easier for them to fill roles because they get a surplus of applicants.

This exactly. They want to deport a bunch of low paid migrant workers doing hard labor that forms the basis of entire industries (a lot of our agriculture, the restaurant and hospitality industries) even though employers in those industries already struggle to find people who will take those jobs and taking that work force away will only raise prices further, exactly what Americans say they don't want.
But we'll hand out 100k+ jobs to wealthy foreign nationals with the idea that Americans are somehow incapable of getting degrees in computer science or finance or economics and that's fine.
It makes no sense.
Of course, Americans aren't incapable. So why don't they do it?

If you look at the winners of things like the science olympiad, many of those students are children of immigrants, and I bet some of those parents came on those work visas.
But a lot more others bought their higher education diplomas, falsified resumes, and are now making $$$ for their masters - minority and women-owner small businesses holders of Federal contracts for civilian agencies like Education Transportation or HUD. If you wonder why you can't get FAFSA to work, here is your answer.

What is "a lot"? How do you know which visa applicant is a future patent creator vs one who's lackluster? Do you think Trump's admin would be equipped to figure this out?
Anonymous wrote:H-1B visa applications have to be signed by prospective employers and the include attestations about the availability of American workers. A few perjury/falsifying a government record charges with jail time against the corporate lawyers whose signatures are on the forms and the problem will right itself
