High School soccer and top College soccer programs are two totally different beasts!! You can be the club favorite and still never see a minute of time when you get that D1 spot
It sure is interesting though. She had a TON of accolades going into college, played under BP/CC, Gatorade player VA player of the year etc.

I mean, this resume is about as good as it gets for a kid coming out of NoVA, so who failed this player?
Playing under CC/BP is not an accolade. They are club coaches. There are hundreds of top level club coaches.
Gatorade play of the year is a HS sport award. Most elite players do not play HS so therefore not eligible.
There are many other awards for club players that carry more weight. That's not the best resume by far.
Do a little research... there are a lot of HS players that were "hero's" but flamed out on the D1 college pitch. In fact, with the exception of Ellie Wheeler ( KC Current) and Laurren Flynn (Utah Royals) most kids in this area (NOVA) are not stars in college. When the favoritism ends, so do a lot of the opportunities.
Parents are heavily involved in some of these recruiting scenario's. Legacy, money, influence etc. Union signing day on social media has girls signing with schools like UVA and UVA doesn't even list them as signed with the other players they are bringing in next year. I applaud these girls trying to play at the highest level, but it's really hard to break through and I hope these parents are giving them a heads up that minutes will be hard to earn. PSU is still in the NCAA tournament, so if this player is publicly announcing move to the portal...she was cut. Hopefully she lands in a good spot, she's obviously a good player.

Broken system at the youth level with the favoritism is what it sounds like.

Maybe it has nothing to do with soccer like PP have mentioned.

I wonder what the résumé's are on the players that were freshman and got playing time vs that player leaving.
Definitely true but someone dropped the ball in all of the situations, whether it was a poor job on the recruiter, or maybe player was coddled? There's a hierarchy at the college level, you MUST earn your minutes and it's even more so to do that as an incoming freshman looking to take away time from older players.
Recruiter = coach (one of the coaches) Coaches also dictate playing time.
This year is a tough year for freshman as there are numerous grad students playing their 5th (Covid) year.
Once you get to college - it's a start over. Whatever your club coach thought of you doesn't matter.
Penn State is paying quite a few 5th year players - they will not be outplaced by a mediocre freshman. They are playing freshmen but only the best of the freshmen.

Anonymous wrote:Didn't see any SOLID information to support this but just tossed it out there since it's being alleged but for context, sounds like Pitt had a roster of about 40, which is INSANELY large. I think what has happened at PSU is a similar thing, I think they carried a massive roster also. I don't know where they're getting the information that all are being replaced with internationals, looking at X I think I counted 3 or so international signings. The effect on recruiting at the youth club level will be felt in a year or two as showcases attended and recruiting data comes out to show the effect on the fallout.
Anonymous wrote:Anybody see about what's allegedly going on with Pitt? Pushing out a large number, only to be replaced by international players?
Was it inevitable that what's going on with the men's side would come to the women's side? Add that to the complications of roster limits, transfer portal etc. I wonder what the ratio is of girl parents vs boy parents there are discussing or looking at the ramifications of changes at the college level. For boys they already have a more difficult route. The highest level of club for them is geared towards professional first, college recruitment comes in second, there's less programs for them, there's more international competition for spots, now roster limits and transfer portal.
