I'm going to after listening to the podcast about it. I'm not sure how to check silicone, etc. "food grade silicone". I get most of my things at Home Goods or the supermarket.

Will absolutely not be using wood or metal. as if.

I have a black plastic spatula that used to belong to my grandma. She died in 1981 and I inherited it. I don't think they recycled things back then so I doubt it is made out of anything recycled. No one in my family has died or gotten cancer from using it for the last 43 years and I am going to keep using it. If I get cancer when I am in my 80's, I guess I can blame this spatula.

Nope. My favorite spatula that I have had for 20 yrs is black no way i am getting rid of it.

Wow. Had no idea people were still using those. We've never used those in my family. Only wood and Metal.

The black stuff was made from recycled materials such as batteries, etc. I just got rid of all my plastic stuff.

All black plastic is bad even when not being exposed to heat. Made from dangerous stuff. Melamine too, just bad all around.
Trader Joe’s has silicone spatulas from time to time. IKEA has safe options, just read carefully - they have cheap plastic for USA market and good silicone or steel for European market


How do we know the gray stuff is any better? It's just the black stuff mixed with some white?
