Read the majority ruling and its discussion of this being an issue for elected representatives, and then recognize that abortions are not an interstate issue. It’s not hard to understand.

Democrats probably should pass a federal law banning abortion after 15 weeks, explicitly pre-empting and state laws. What would need to happen is first Democrats would have to sign off on the idea of a federal law that dictates abortion policy to the nation. Kamala Harris advocated for this but it never passed or came close. Once that happens, Republicans would be free to do the same. People who are pro-life but hesitant to pass a federal law would then be willing to do so(except the ones who are really pro-choice and pretending for votes).
