Gonzaga parent with a kid who rides the Metro. I will ask him if he does this. I would expect the answer to be no, but can’t be sure unless I ask. I expect my Gonzaga kid to be well-behaved and represent the school well.

They have kids ride free cards anyway.
At least the DC kids are not paying for the metro

The fact that it’s free anyway makes it worse.

You sound like an obsessive rule follower. Were there people standing because all the seats were full? If not, then why are you creating a tempest in a teapot. If some people were standing and couldn’t sit because of this behavior, someone should have scolded the young bucks

train car.

You said your car. Its not yours, mind your own business.

I'm not OP but you are definitely what's wrong with the society today. If I am riding on a public train, it IS my business because tomorrow I might have to sit on that nasty seat. Raise your children to sit in chairs properly.

Shoes are the least of your worries on those seats. So long as you're not going to lick them I'm sure you'll live Gladys.

Hey Karen, I’m sorry that your parents didn’t raise your right, and that you’re passing down your idiocy to your spawn. In a civilized society where I was raised we do not put our shoes on furniture, and especially not on public transport. So since you failed to raise your children, I’m grateful for OP who will hopefully teach them. I ride the Marc train and the conductors will definitely tell your brat to get his feet off the seat.

I’m not OP, but I read metro daily and see teens all the time. This would rank in the bottom 20% of behavior and I would be upset at my teen son for behaving this way—unless train car was largely empty in which case spreading across two seats is fine. Sneakers on seats is not.

The bottom 5% of teen boy behavior includes the boys I saw last week that were swinging from the overhead poles in such a way that I thought they were gojng yo kick someone in the head.

Kid is at a different catholic school than Gonzaga, but they take public behavior seriously. The young men are representatives of the school and are expected to behave accordingly. This will be mentioned at the school. Call the main office.

Were they screaming and cussing? If not, I would probably let it go.

Call the school. At my catholic school, if we were out in public, in school uniform, we were expected to behave in ways that did not reflect badly on the school and the school took it VERY seriously.
