Yeah the Amplify history content is pretty lousy in general. It's the kind of stuff I'd expect from the '90s, not modern times when I'd think there'd be a little more sensitivity to the fact that dominant groups (white, Western, Christian, etc) are not in fact the center of the universe and the only ones whose perspective really matters. It kind of sucks that thie is the content my kids will be getting years of, honestly, but that's probably something for a different post...

The Amplify curriculum isn’t the MCPS Social Studies curriculum though. So maybe that’s a feedback to give your teacher/school about the curriculum is that it would be better to integrate the MCPS social studies curriculum and Amplify history portions.

Okay, as a teacher there are MANY mean kids who act out in the accelerated classes. What the heck!? They may not be acting out because they don't understand the curriculum but plenty of kids in advanced classes have behavior issues/and or are frequently mean. My god. Tell me you've spent no time in an actual classroom without telling me you've spent no time in an actual classroom.

I'm an atheist but presuming this is about providing historical context for ancient Rome, this does not bother me. Are you worried the curriculum is proselytizing?

Did your previously above grade level reader drop to on grade level with the new curriculum?

Do teachers and content specialists have some Q1 feedback regarding the Amplify CKLA curriculum?
