The names in question were not popular in England in the 17th and 18th century — names like Will, Charles, Thomas, George etc were popular then and came over here. Nigel became popular in the 19th century when we had gone our separate ways and were busy importing lots of Patricks. Francis/Frank, Joseph/Giusrppes, and Karl’s.

But the Caribbean was still tied to England so those names became popular there.

Jemima unpopular in US because = Aunt Jemima syrup.

Apparently Raewyn (f)is a New Zealand-derived name.

I am from the UK and I'm mid 50s. There were Nigel's in my school when I was small and there are contemporaries of mine in London who I know with this name. I don't know anyone in generations after mine because it is a terrible name, absolutely awful.
