There’s more to the story. I simplified it for DCUM. So, a woman who is friends with us and my ex, saw me at the bar with the woman. She took the pictures of me and the MOH at the bar, posted it online, and sent the pictures to my ex and said she was going to “expose me”. So, I had to reach out to my ex and explain what what was going on. As I mentioned, I wanted to get ahead of this and told the woman I was seeing. Again, there’s a still a little bit more to it but that’s the gist.

This is my question. If OP put his arm around her to pose for a group picture, the "gf" is overreacting. If OP had his arm around her at the bar while talking (which is what it sounds like in his description) and got caught in a picture in that position, he doesn't have reasonable boundaries and "gf" is right to leave before she has expectations of him.

You’re using the alcohol as the excuse for hanging out with the woman and having your arm around her, yet you’re astute enough to “try to get ahead of it” and explain away a single IG photo your GF.

This doesn’t pass the smell test at all. You sound guilty because you knew you were wrong. You didn’t cheat, I’m not saying that. I’m saying it’s shady behavior and your GF wisely recognizes it early on. She sounds smart.

If you truly believed she was the one, ask yourself why you’re in this position. Self-sabotage is real.

I expect a 35 yr old man to have female friends, and exgirlfriends (maybe even an ex-wife). It wouldn't bother me. In my most PMS/insecure moment it would make me think "Keep an eye on this" but I certainly wouldn't break up with you over it.

Ugh! That’s messy. But yeah, you shouldn’t have had your arms around another woman. A hug is one thing (and fine) but standing around with your arm around another woman’s back looks like you’re a couple.
