The only emotion DH shows is anger. I’ve only seen him cry once and it was when a parent died. When he encounters a situation that is frustrating he gets angry. He makes a mistake, he gets angry. Work is stressful, he gets angry. He is faced with a frightening situation, he gets angry. He has no issue showing anger, I assume because he feels it’s more socially acceptable. I have suggested therapy many times but he doesn’t believe in it. I think part of it is that he is afraid any other emotion shows weakness. I was determined that our sons would be free to express all emotions so we talked about feelings, focused on EQ and even saw therapists when they faced struggles. I’m relieved they haven’t modeled his “tantrums”. He is actually learning from them which is a pleasant surprise!

OP - he needs to get help to address it ASAP or you need to get OUT.

What?! Who teaches this.

That’s complete horse shit.

DP - it's cultural. "Men aren't emotional" and yet, men are angry, seemingly all the time, because it's the only emotion they're sometimes allowed to express. The end result is men essentially being taught that anger isn't a feeling, it's just a part of masculinity they're entitled to.

I mean this sincerely, get the mental help you so so so desperately need.
