OP here, thanks for all the suggestions. We are flexible on price point, particularly for the dinner. Unfortunately FIG is all booked but will keep trying. We landed on Chez Nous for dinner.

If you wanted to knock off a beach walk and BBQ in one, go to Home Team on Sullivans. Maybe its not technically "the best" but its delicious, the Gamechanger cocktail is awesome, and its a total vibe -- lots of fun.

Swig and Swine is awesome

Millers is Meh

IOP is far from a tourist trap but definitely not a dining destination

You haven’t answered the question about price point…some of the recs are pretty $$$

Nobody goes to IOP for brunch, wtf?! It’s like 49 min away.

Someone above suggested Sullivan‘s Island – where is your crazy for them?

We had lunch at Sullivan's Fish Camp. We were over there anyway. It was good but not sure I would drive over just for lunch.

For dinner, no question, go to FIG if you can. The best.

IOP is further and much less quaint and fun. It’s a tourist trap.

My family has been in Charleston for generations. It is definitely a new BBQ destination. I do like swig and swine. Leon’s was great 10 years ago, mid now. FIG is always a good idea. The ordinary is great. For brunch I’d go out to Sullivans island or just to like the Post House Inn or Shem creek to see more of the city. Sorel was nice. There are great restaurants in Johns Island to see some old trees etc. But if you’re city focused, try Lowlands, the new FIG restaurant.

Rodney Scott’s is over rated middle of the road to me. Had it for Xmas last year. Wasn’t really memorable. Is popular due to Netflix special and celebrity. Look at Yelp reviews. Maybe it’s improved.

For Christmas? Like your Christmas meal? Well I have to say that is an odd choice. It’s good barbecue for a lunch at a casual place.

Meat is good, stay away from the collard greens - way too sweet
