i find the ad a bit ridiculous. its meant for kids who are underweight or sick. not because the little angel will not eat their chicken and green beans but you cant stand to see them hungry.
im using it for the moment with my 1 year old who has severe tonsillitis. he literally cannot swallow most things right now. but he can drink pediasure so if i try pureed baby food or yogurt and he still wont eat because it hurts i will offer a sippy cup of pediasure. then try again the next meal. hes on antibiotics and as his throat heals he will go back to real food because its basically sugary thick chocolate milkshake with nutrients added. its basically nutritionally enhanced candy. which is fine when sick because they need the extra sugar for energy to fight the illness. or extra calories if a child has a growth problem. for the longest time, he was on high calorie preemie formula several times a day to make him gain.
but for the price and sugar content, it should NOT be a daily thing. they make it seem like its an alternative to eating. ive yet to see a healthy child starve themselves. we were never forced to eat as kids but there wasnt an alternative offered. if you didnt eat dinner, you ate breakfast. at most you would miss 2 meals before you gave up and ate. none of us starved. we all figured out a growling tummy sucked. and opted to eat what was offered.
