I just oosted on a GIVF thread and wanted to let potential recipients know that I will be a donor at GIVF or Dominion Fertility but NOT Shady Grove. I'm a proven donor and have two healthy kids of my own so I want to help other couples and I admit that I need the money because my husband is deployed in Afghanistan and I have chose to stay home with my kids.

yes they do shared risk, but I don't know the cost, I'm planning on donating there so that part doesn't really apply to me.

Does DF do shared risk? Do you mind me asking the cost for DE there?

Based on my friends recommendation I am going to Dominion Fertility.

PP, I'm a longtime infertility patient hoping that I will be lucky to find a donor willing to do IVF for me. Having been through several failed cycles I know that IVF is tough on one's body, but I truly hope there's someone like you that will end up on the anonymous donor list at my clinic. It's a tremendous gift you would be giving and I can't believe someone on this thread referred to it as a simple business transaction.

I just applied to be an egg donor and I'm glad I came across this site, it's given me some more info to think over before committing to the process. I'm 26, married and have 2 kids, my husband is deployed in Afghanistan and we need the money, but I also think it would be great to help out a couple that really wants to have kids. I applied to an agency but now I'm thinking that going directly to an area clinic may be the best route.

OP here -- just want to be clear that I understand that donors probably need the money and that it may be the primary reason they are doing it, but at least to me, I made sure I felt comfortable that my donor wasn't desperate for the money or not fully informed about what she was doing. I carefully read her essay and listened to her audio interview. I also spent time on the internet, just bc I was curious, and there are all sorts of sad people looking to donate eggs. A few were very young and had young kids. Some seemed like drug addicts.

I'm doing egg donation at Dominion Fertility, went through several failed cycles at SG and decided to try a smaller practice. I sincerely hope our donor is treated well because unlike what another poster said it is not just a business transaction.

GIVF? Where is that? I am with SG now, but, regardless of the general snarky tone of some posters (donors AND recipients), I want to make sure it is an ethically sound place for DE.

This post makes me so sad. I used a DE for all my kids (same donor, though we had to fly her back from her new home for the last 2 children).

We used GIVF and I think (hope!) they treat donors extremely well. In fact, I had to do a number of rounds (which is unusual with DE) bc they didn't want to overstimulate her.

If there are any GIVF donors out there, please tell me they treated you well?!

GIVF also limits donors to 8 rounds (regardless of the pregnancy success rate) I believe.

FWIW, for each cycle, I sent my donor a gift in additional to her fee -- for the first, it was a necklace with an angel charm and a personal note. For the second, spa certificate. and a note saying I hope she shared with her mom (her audio interview mentioned how close she was to her Mom). Then gift cards of $500 bc I assumed she would prefer the money.

I really hope she knows how I feel about the miracles she gave me. I picked her bc I had full confidence she knew what she was signing up for (she was almost 30 and married) and didn't seem desparate for money (like some donor I saw on non clinic related web sites).

Also, bc of a snafu, I actually saw the DE and am tearing up now thinking about how beautiful and peaceful she looked. God bless. You just cannot imagine what you did for me!
