23-24 VAE 17U ranked much better than Metro 17T in USAV GJNC nationals.Metro had so many talents buy very bad ranking. Coaching in VAE 17 seems better.

According to the AES power rankings, Metro 17T was 80 in the nation (1 in CHRVA), and VAE was 138 in the nation (2 in CHRVA). Anyone can draw some conclusions from data and you are free to conclude that coaching in VAE is better. Whatever floats your boat, dude.

Not sure of the relevance of how last year's VAE 17s did at nationals to a thread about 14s, but if you're trying to make the point that VAE has coaching at Metro, I think your evidence is a little weak.

The VAE rising 18s are a very solid team and I suspect they will be one of the contenders for the best CHRVA 18s team this season. But as noted, drawing conclusions from a result in a single tournament isn't really giving the whole picture. The only time they played Metro 17T head-to-head last year, was at bid regionals and Metro won 2-0. Other tournaments that they played in the same division, Metro finished higher, including Charm City, Capitol Hill, Sunshine, Big South, NEQ, and JVA Summerfest.

Even at Nationals, both finished their round one pool at 3-2, but VA Elite ended up coming out of their pool in 3rd place placing them in the top half, while Metro placed 4th meaning they dropped into the bottom half. Overall for Nationals, VAE 17s ended up 4-5 while Metro ended up 7-3. Not taking anything away from VA Elite's performance - they earned the higher finish by winning the matches needed to advance out of their pool to the top half of the tournament, but drawing any big picture conclusion like VA Elite has better coaching from a single tournament result seems a little bit silly.

I was also thinking about pointing out that this thread was not for 17s. We are likely dealing with one of those posters who constantly bash the coaching at Metro no matter what the thread and context are about. Their line of thought might be: "Is this thread about volleyball? Who cares that the OP is interested in 14s? I can bring up the coaching in the 17s Metro vs 17s VAE and everybody will praise my insight into this very specific and unrelated topic."

And to the OP who started this thread looking for advice on 14s, I hope your DD got an offer over the weekend!

Her goal is to make JV in high school, not necessarily focused on college/recruiting etc that it sounds like a lot of girls are already starting to think about.

I would argue that most girls play because they like the sport without thinking about college scholarships. Many are aware that they don't have the height to make a college team. Many don't want to go to college to play volleyball because that's a full time job that would distract them from their academics. If you see people discussing obsessively about college scholarships on these threads, keep calm and move on - they are a minority.

DMV tries to import Virginia club prices on the Maryland market. The costs are not in close range: most clubs charge at least $1000 less than DMV. Your math is not that good if you can't see the difference between what DMV charges when you compare to most other MD clubs. But you can give them your money: they are always looking for suckers willing to pay. They would start two or three teams per age level if they found enough suckers.

In the grand scheme of things, I don’t find the price difference horrific. Higher, annoying—yes, but if it’s the only offer given, then what’s the problem with doing it for a year for practice? Better than wasting the season doing nothing. You’re still paying for all the travel expenses with all clubs, so it’s a close cost in the end.

Money is a construct on Earth and doesn't mean much outside our solar system. So a few thousand dollars are nothing in the grand scheme of things. It's not as horrific as being sucked into a black hole. You may be living in a bubble, but a few thousands of dollars matter to most people. If you don't care, just give them your money: you don't have to justify your decisions on anonymous forums.

On the big stage at 2024 GJNC 17U nationals,
VAE 17T : 13th out of 48 national teams,
Metro 17T: 33th out of 48 national teams.
Even Metro director gave up this 17T team( she will not coach 18T this season), why so difficult for you to acknowledge it dude?

Go to DMV if you absolutely have no other options. Players who end up in DMV are those who have no chance in decent clubs (that happen to be significantly less expensive) and come from families who can afford to waste money on their kids' hobby.

She is primarily a soccer player but is 5'7 and has good hands from playing with big sis and a few seasons playing for her catholic shool team. Any suggestions?

Maybe Alexandria Titans?

Nightmare and unprofessional management. Do not recommend, at all.

I would agree Va Elite is unlikely. Pretty sure their roster is probably done. They had invite only clinics so if your DD was not invited to those, I would not count on it.
