Fairfax County Public Schools George Mason University
Systems of Support Advisor Assistant with Fairfax County Public Schools - one of Virginia's largest and most successful school systems. I love my job and I am very grateful for the time and experiences within the public educational system.
I used that experience and flexible schedule as a substitute teacher to go back to school and complete my undergraduate degree - Bachelors of Arts Degree in Music: Business and Production - from George Mason University in December 2014; as well as pursue a professional certification in Digital Media and Film Production.
My passions for the creative arts and programs goes back to pre-college days. I have been very active in digital media for over 15 years. I've taken great pride to learn new programs on both PC and MAC operating systems. I love the process of working and completing a new project, whether it be personal or professional; solo or with a team. No matter what the project I am working on, I am committed one hundred percent, that my best effort is always presented in the end.
Outside of my professional pursuits, I am active in my local community. I support the public education system, and I still provide my background as a Certified Middle School Math Teacher as a private tutor from time to time. I'm also an active musician. I love jazz adult contemporary music, and I jam with a few friends every week or so. I'm a diehard superhero fan, as well as a movie nerd. I always enjoy trading stories with people over coffee.
Regardless of the connection, I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. Connect with me if you would enjoy a person with an interesting past. Open for networking, career-opportunities, or just a friendly chats.

Wait - they’re hiring people with ID’s to work in education??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Have you seen the IA pay scale? https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/pdf/fy25-cis.pdf
Not many people with options want to work for $25-30k per year. If they work summer school too, maybe an extra $2 or $3k. That's not a living wage even for a single person with roommates. If you want good people to take these jobs, pay them better wages.
Minimum wage in Maryland right over the river is $15/hr. A full time worker at literally any job in MD makes the same money.
+1. And many IAs don’t get benefits. It’s a sh&tty job. If you want better people working in schools, pay them better, offer benefits, and treat them as professionals/train them as such. We currently don’t do any of that in our school system and therefore wind up with a lot of bad staff members in schools.
First step is getting the federal government to pay its share for IDEA mandates. They said they would pay 40% percent of costs but only pay low teens. FCPS doesn’t have to money to pay these high special Ed costs.

This teacher was openly homosexual and proudly displayed pride flags in his room.
In and of itself this would not be an issue. Men like this do more damage to gay rights than anything any bigot or prejudice person could ever do.
Any evidence?

>>said by someone who lives the same lifestyle, perhaps. Not related to this arrest, have you seen rent prices in this area? $1500+ month for a basement apartment or small studio. We are seeing college grads starting their careers not being able to "launch" in your definition. Don't be surprised when even valedictorians start shacking up with their parents.

McLean Police District— Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have arrested a Langley High School Instructional Assistant after he was seen masturbating in a classroom.
On October 11, during school hours, a School Resource Officer was notified by school administration that a student observed an instructional assistant masturbating in a classroom behind his desk. Detectives were notified and immediately began investigating.
Preliminarily, detectives determined that David Scalea, 40, of Great Falls was in a classroom and began inappropriately touching himself underneath his desk. A student observed Scalea and immediately notified school administration. No students were physically harmed.
On October 11, Scalea was arrested and charged with Obscene Sexual Display and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Scalea was placed on administrative leave and has been an instructional assistant with Fairfax County Public Schools since 2020. He is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

This is disgusting.
FCPS should take a scrutiny on the staff recruiting and training process.
