I know you are joking but this needs to be called out. If your kid only plays striker, never passes, and basically just scores for the team with no other contributions then they are actually one of the weaker players and the coach doesn't trust them anywhere else on the field, which is bad. They almost all stop playing by high school or when they bump up to harder competition with real defenders.

You're saying the Striker is doing their role well, which is to score goals, and that makes them one of the worst players on the team?

One of my kids’ teams is having this issue right now. The goalkeeper is a great athlete but lacks the soccer IQ to understand things from the field players’ perspective. This is leading to some terrible decision making and bobbles at crucial times. They can make some great saves, but the mistakes are incredibly frustrating because they are so preventable.

The best technical player plays the 6 or the 10. Depending on their skill set. This doesn't have to be the best overall player, but those who know how to play the game and have composure on the ball, and work ethic. The 6 pushes players off to the outside. Makes good diagonals passes to the wingers or through balls. The 10 takes the ball and drives or dishes quickly and is an option in the box. Both should be good defenders in their own rights. I hate hearing that because my son is a 10 he is just an attacker. A 10 should be defending from the front. That is why they are a midfielder. They have to do both. No exceptions.

Agree. Our three best players are center D, center Mid and striker. The mid and D are the fastest, strongest and have the best field awareness. The striker has the best ball control.

Depends on what “best means,

CAM, HM, CB are typically your strongest players from a technique and soccer iq angle.

Wingers on a speed and physicality angle.

Best players are on the bench. They just don’t know they are the best yet. #Grinding

The best players on my kids team play the top line but they can play any position. They are at the top because of their speed and ability to move the ball. But they can be put on defense if needed and are still strong in those positions

Keeper is definitely the most important position in soccer once you are playing with full size goals!

Agree 100%! Been on some teams that had good field players but a below average goalie and let me tell you, it is tough to win games with a team like that!!! Goalie is definitely an underappreciated position (especially if your team has a good one) but I can also see why not many kids want to play that position, either. Scoring goals is where all the glory is! LOL

In our team U11, The top 4 players, 2 in the back, 1 CM, and 1 super fast winger.
The weak player is a striker.
