First semester of med school...I had to put forth some effort for the first time and it was shocking.

I never thought I was a genius. Even though I did well in school and have done well in my academic career, a lot of that is from putting in work. And there was always someone smarter than me, so I figured they were the geniuses.

If I were a genius I probably would have pursued a better paying career. I was not smart enough to think about that when pursuing graduate studies.

I was tip of my class throughout now a professor a top school and highly successful. But it depends on your perspective. I machine washed my cashmere sweater and dented my new shelving with my laptop this week so not always on clearly.

I’m GTLD so I continue to find that some things that others find hard to understand or do come easily for me while some things that are easy for others are hard for me.

Maybe we are all like that to some extent. Not many people are geniuses at everything or suck at everything.

Also, I value social and emotional IQ as much as abstract problem-solving. However, I have been placing my foot firmly in my mouth since early days so I guess I found out young that I am not an EQ genius.

Even when someone’s not a genius they still have to get in the part where they claim that they tested just like a genius!

There's an easier way. My six year old figured it out. He simply took all the stickers off and rearranged them so that everything was "solved."

It took us a very long time to see that the stickers were crooked. In the meantime, grandparents were called. A lot of wonderment at the family prodigy. Six years old! Figured out the Rubik's Cube! Prepare the MIT application!

Obviously the parents aren't geniuses.

I disassembled it and reassembled it solved.

I’ve never felt like a genius even though I tested that way. There have always been many things I struggle with and there has always been someone who’s far better at learning whatever I’m trying to learn.

Around 17/18 when I started 6th Form. Killed it in school up to that point. A levels humbled me…I had to work so hard to barely pass A level math while other people were breezing through.

My brother was always considered the smart one (doing really well in math) so I knew growing up that I was not a genius. Fast forward to adulthood… Turns out that I am more successful in my career as well as my family life.

I skipped a grade early on and thought I was AMAZING for quite a few years. ...I got brought back to earth when I took differential equations in college. The people in that class were legit smart. Then all of a sudden it felt like I had been pretending up until that point.

2nd grade math. I knew that I should know how to do what other people were capable of, but I just couldn't get my brain to work. That kept happening all through life.
