What is everyone reading this month? Stash by Laura Cathcart Robbins
What is it about? it's about Laura and her addiction to Ambien and her divorce
What do you think of it? I'll keep reading. Not quite as riveting as the above book, but still good.
Why did you pick that particular book to read? I saw it mentioned somewhere and tossed it on my library list
How did you acquire the book? public library - same way I acquire every book I read
I'm reading this now, and I'm almost finished. I don't know that I would recommend it. The author at times seems semi aware that she is the reason for her divorce, addiction, and inability to move forward, but she comes from such a place of privilege, that it's so difficult to feel much empathy. She lied her way into a career, a marriage, and society and then can't cope when that starts falling apart. She's the ultimate con. Then when she finally does get herself to rehab, she continues to make poor choices. The only people I felt sorry for was her now ex-husband and kids. I'm sure it's more complicated than I am relaying, but she keeps everything surface level and really doesn't do an adequate job of showing any actual struggle or reason behind her lies and choices.
