Prep definitely gives money for swimming. During their dominant run in the 2010s their team was built around Asian kids and Jewish kids. People their for the swimming scholarships not the “Jesuit education”
You know we are talking swimming and not chess right?
I know how awful this will sound, but I've never heard of a sports team built around Asian and Jewish kids.
Ha ha. It is sort of a funny notion. Yes I know there are good athletes in all walks of life.
In this case, I don't know if it were true but I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze in such a case. Its just not that important and if I were a Prep parent or alum, I'd be less than pleased that resources were spent on such a folly. Literally nobody remembers who won a HS swimming race 15 years ago.
No one remembers who won any HS athletics event 15 years ago.

what school? approximately what years did this happen? thanks, in case my Maryland swimmer gets real fast
I have a hard time believing this bc there is not a single coed MD (MD/DMV I should say, bc McDonough is the exception) school where both teams are “good”. Swimming is not a priority sport.
- parent of great swimmer, didn’t hear from a single school until swimmer was in admissions system, $0
Just coming here to say this is happening right now at least two different co-ed schools in Maryland (not McDonough). Both MIAA/IAAM. In both cases, the swimmers were placed on a priority list for admissions. So even if you don't get money, being a fast swimmer can help!
