so obtuse. I don't think OP likes camping, either, but since their kid is in the Scouts, and they are camping, and I'm sure he wanted to go, the dad should just suck it up. It's not like they go every weekend.

My DH went with DS on all of the scout camps, even though DH hated them. Part of being a parent is doing stuff you don't like *for your kid*.

Don't have kids if you aren't willing to do stuff you don't like because most of the things you do for them aren't things most parents enjoy.

Sorry, OP. I hope he has redeeming qualities. My husband of 20 years used to be pleasant and helpful for many things, but was always very limited when it came to childcare and petcare. Now he's not helpful at all, for anything. The kids are grown and I'm out.

I’m sorry you’re on your own, OP. It sucks while you’re going through it with young kids, but one day they’ll realize that every great childhood memory involves you and not dad, and they’ll express their gratitude to you for making it all happen.
