Heading down hardwood stairs in socks with my teen’s Stanley in hand to fill it up and I slipped and slid down the stairs. Banged my elbow and thigh. I’m fine but…I feel old. It’s a reminder I’m less than halfway from a fall being the difference between life and death. At 46 I can manage—I’m sure I’ll have a nasty bruise as a result but 20-30yrs from now-this could take me out. And the worst part about this was my teen coming after me going mom, mom are you okay? Just a kick in the pants. Goodnight.

Had to have two surgeries and just now, five months later, starting to feel better. Hang in there OP. Stairs are a menace to us older people!

Not me. No stairs house.
What's up with childish replies that are so dumb? Are you proud to be so petty? Please make sure you never go anywhere where there are stairs. You are neither witty, nor sassy. More like a mo*on.
I am just another member of zero risk crew here on DCUM. I don't walk under trees. I have seen pictures of the ocean from a suitably distant location so I don't get killed by any rogue waves or sharks.

Happened to my teen. We are getting a runner for stairs. Get treads or a runner.
Anonymous wrote:So does a runner on hardwood floors help mitigate the risk or just avoid wearing socks?
Anonymous wrote:It’s not because you’re old, it’s because you wore socks on hardwood floors!
Anonymous wrote:I can’t see. I fall (usually up) on the stairs all the time. Do not wear flip flops around the house and Skyzone socks are amazing
