Thankfully not as bad as the academy school takeover of state schools in England by the private sector, a legacy of the Conservative party over the past ten years. There are hardly any state schools left, and the privately run academy schools have not provided improved outcomes. In many cases schools are worse off and multiple schools have consolidated to save costs and increase profits.
Have you looked at MCPS outcomes recently?
While not discounting MCPS’s decline, one can also see how England’s privatisation of schools by mega corporations like Oasis, and having them compete against one another (and the consolidation of both successful and failing schools) to maximise profit is also not a solution.
One possibility here would be to break up the large county run school systems here into smaller districts. But that may require a rewrite of state law.
We go by counties not districts and that would not help. We need to replace the BOE and central office with competent people.
