I'll read between the lines here. If you have a multiple offer kid, are you saying a parent can say, we will come to xyz instead of abc team if you recommend them to the regional camp?

Yes if ur confident and/or direct and messy. Thats the play if your kid is truly a talented game changer. There are kids that play soccer and there are soccer players. The later build networks outside of the club to ensure they have the best supporting structure. This is speaking for collegiate players as well. No one will commit somewhere that wont get them returns unless they are just happy to be rostered.

i surmise some parents wont be holding clubs at gnpoint. And opt to move silently. As decisions have been made. Each year in each club has individual needs… give it some time. ✅
That is how some of these players got on teams and were selected. Not skills but parents throwing weight around.

NP here. Our team got 3 invites (not saying which year or team), but the invites are odd because none of the 3 are in the upper tier of the team or among the strongest players of the team and none of them are consistent starters (2 aren't even starters at all and 1 just joined the team). I don't get it. I like the kids, and I am happy for them, but I could have picked at least 10 other kids on our team who are much stronger players and 5 of those 10 who are much, much better. Something is really off. And no, not sour grapes. But I do worry about how this will affect the team dynamics. It makes no sense, none.

when parents start talking interclub… some lucky coach hits the lottery with a walkon team of strong players. The loyalty is only to your dc. Not the club lol. No different from work. Short term decisions have long term consequences

I feel like this is more with the girls. Are boys parents doing something like this?

I am VERY surprised by a few clubs and they players that were picked. Some of them are new to the team and other have been there for a few years. Not sure how that were picked, especially since there are stronger players that should be included in that roster.

Whether is a new TD proping up players they bought to the club that otherwise wouldn’t be playing ecnl caliber games and have never played an ecnl game, clubs that picked younger siblings due to the need of marketing older siblings as club products, or to stop the exodus to mlsnext parents know politics.

Clubs are balancing club needs and marketing opportunities and are banking that parents wont move their DCs. Its a gamble as pissing off the wrong parents may end up leaving the selected players on inferior teams if parents choose to leave.

I just keep hearing stories of selections being made before the season games started. Some kids never even at that point played an ecnl game so what exactly outside of politics would be the deciding factors.

So players who start and play all game are overlooked for not so great players or subs? Otherwise, it can be pretty subjective if you’re selecting from team of starters who play all game.

Are parents surprised at who got called up and think there are others more deserving?

So when are the players IDed? Are these selections based on recommendations from the spring season or from the fall? I mean the fall season just started so presumably these players have been known to their club or DCU for a while for them to make the recommendation.

I just find it so fascinating that on one side, this is used as a marketing tool and recruiting tactics, yet the federation wants it under wraps. It really should be one or the other, clubs market the heck out of it but none of the lists are actually made public by US Soccer.

Thank you. I was more interested in the timing of club recommendations but I supposed no one knows that for sure. Are players informed that have been recommended or does the club just surprise them with the announcement?

I think it is a huge invasion of privacy to the other players, they should block the other names and just highlight their own.
