The very rare times when I use candles, I use beeswax. I am very particular. I don’t like too many carcinogens in my house.

I love a good candle. It will be expensive if the scent is good. In a glass jar for safety.

I absolutely love candles, but I feel like I'm the only one in my group that uses them!

I do think giving them as gifts is rough, because you may not know what scent someone would like, IF they would like a scent, etc.

Another never, and anyone who gives me things with scents doesn't know me well at all.

Not even a Diptyque?

candles right up there with mugs, body lotion and bath salts, soap- people really don't want these, better just to send a card with gift card or buy an expensive card -fancy one that you would never buy (pop up).

I agree about candles and fire mishap, a friend of mine is thinking of creating a candle line, sigh.

I have occasionally received a really artificially scented candle and I will trash those. So I would say stick to more natural scents. I think flowers are the best hostess gift, especially if sent the day after the event so I don't have to find a place and vase for them in the middle of the event. But even then, I still enjoy fresh flowers.

I'm with you, I light candles all the time and enjoy receiving them. I mostly buy Voluspa but have been given some others, normally higher end, I like and appreciate as well.

Candles were lit. Family went to Christmas Eve services. Family did not extinguish candles when the left the home. When they returned from church their house was burning down.

Bingo.

I don’t do fire.

No candles, ever.

Plain ones - just when having people over to create a festive mood. I think scented candles are tacky and gross (yes even the expensive ones).

I love candles as a gift. I have a couple bath and body works, some great TJ Maxx ones, once I got a Nest as a splurge. Fwiw the TJ Maxx ones I love do not look remotely tacky. Forget the brand but they have no big logo, just large and white and smell like magnolia.

I use them quite a bit in winter. I love cinnamon and pine scented ones for a cozy feel. I also use them when my man comes over to set the mood.

I'd like to use flameless ones too but most of them look tacky. If you have nice ones, I'd love for you to link them here.

Same. Scandinavian roots, so candles in winter are standard.
