Are you going to kid-sit in the mornings and afternoon for who knows how long? I also WFH and I am always amazed how people just assumed I have all the time in the world to do things for them.

Your problem, OP, is not that you can’t do it, but that you don’t feel like doing it (but you don’t want to cone right out and tell them that because you don’t want them to think you’re a jerk).

Just be honest and then don’t expect any favors, ever, from these people going forward. I wouldn’t be surprised of they just completely write you off, but it’s your choice.

The school district is not asking OP to watch these other kids. The school is saying that parents are responsible for getting their own kids to school, temporarily.
OP doesn't say where she lives, but I don't believe there is a national law requiring school districts to provide transportation to public schools. Some states or local jurisdictions might have it-but without knowing where OP lives, we don't know if this specific one does.

DP. It's clearly too early to drop the kids off at school (they would have to get to a bus stop much earlier than they actually had to be at school) so they need a place for kids to hang while waiting for it to be time. Not fair to OP that she has to have the kids come and hang out at her house before school. Not to mention have to wait for the kids who are inevitably late.

Mornings are lower risk and may be a big help. They will be incentivized to arrive on time and will be in a hurry to leave and get to work (no chit chat). Let them know if they don’t arrive by the designated AM time that you will have to leave without them. Might be a low risk way to assist.
