It is the usual haunting ground of the kids of the so-called "Cambridge Mafia" (i.e., Harvard and MIT faculty). If your child's one wish in life is to attend Harvard, Milton has the highest acceptance rates of any school. I went to Harvard. Milton is helpful for Harvard because of several reasons: (i) the old ties; (ii) Milton is a good school and a respected one; and (iii) you end up meeting tons of your friends' parents, who work at Harvard, and help pull the strings that need to be pulled.

Ugh, way to have your child's life planned out before they are even a teenager.

This is the best listing. I tend to go with two categories as are the very important: Endowment size per student and average SSAT scores.

Andover, Exeter, Deerfield, Choate, Saint Andrew's, St. Paul, Hotchkiss, Middlesex, Milton, Peddie, Lawrenceville, Groton are all top notch East Coast boarding schools. In the West there is Thatcher and Cate which are also top notch. There are surely others as well. And there is no way to rank these schools individually, because they all have their own strengths and weaknesses, and it truly depends on the student and how much the individual student is willing to put into their schooling. Andover, Exeter and Choate have high name-ID with kids, which explains their obsession with those names. But College Admissions people know all of these schools very well.
