Subject: Whats your freshman DD doing this weekend?
Hung out with a friend for 2 hours to play ping pong. Visited my parents for lunch. Played a small amount of pickleball with our neighbor (a guy around my age, but they are equally matched at the game). Other than that, on video games or in his room.

OP - try not to get caught up in focusing on what your kids’ peers are doing, even if she does (and especially if she does not).
Your jog is or create a safe space where she can hang out at home and not feel judged or stressed if she doesn’t have friends or plans. A cocoon of sorts. If you are looking outward to see what she’s missing, she will internalize that.

Subject: Whats your freshman DD doing this weekend?
DD was supposed to go to the game on Thursday but that got washed out so she had a sleepover with a friend. On Sunday, she went shopping with friends. In between she did a lot of homework and studied.

Mine had one friend over for a couple hours one night. Otherwise, nothing social outside of family/grandparents. It was a nice weekend.

Sophomore DD went to an amusement park one day, out on our boat with family friends another and otherwise just doing homework and cleaning her room. I think it’s normal for kids to just chill this last weekend before insanity of school year starts.

as an aside, I can't even fathom knowing what other Freshmen are doing. Aren't their accounts private? How does an adult even view this or want to?
I can’t fathom NOT knowing what is going on-on some level- on my 14 yo dc’s social media. I mean, feel free not to check but most experts will say to do so at that age.
