The producers released a clip from the Maria movie and she doesn’t nail Maria Callas’ accent and personality at all. She’s a terrible actress who can only play herself. The movie is getting poor reviews as well. It’s probably another bomb for her.


Lady Gaga should have played Maria Callas.



The obvious choice, yes. From looks to voice, and the ability to do a bigger, more charismatic personality.

Angelina isn't on Gold Derby's list of 25 possibilities right now, but Netflix will put money behind her campaign and it could happen. A nom, anyway. Win highly, highly unlikely.



Nicole Kidman and Babygirl are getting more uniformly excellent reviews out of Venice.

I agree the clip did not present her performance well. She looks beautiful, but looks and acts nothing like Callas. The butler was very good. It was a strange clip to choose. Why not a more compelling one of her 'performing,' if apparently she did okay there? Anyway, Netflix thinks it will do okay. They don't care about super-high quality just big names.


She is incapable of immersing herself in a role. She is always Angelina, no matter what part she plays. She thinks putting on a terrible accent will cover her abysmal acting abilities.

The movie is also supposed to show Maria at the end of her life when she was struggling with health and pills. And yet, Julie’s appearance in the clip was nothing like a woman on death’s door. She is too vain to immerse herself in the role.
