Not really. it is 40 percent minority. And a lot of the 60 percent have foreign born parents. Before I moved to a W school my prior blue collar town was 97 percent W and we had a very large amount of people who grew up in the town. At back to school night like 1/2 the parents grew up in the town. Prom was massive and attended by at least 98 percent of school. The rent a massive country club to hold it on a Saturday night and lasted till Dawn. Homecoming tickets sold out immediately.

I have neighbors whose parents grew up in Italy or France who identify as W but they are not people supporting these events.

Exactly, there's a difference between the W school in Bethesda and in Potomac.

Wootton and Churchill hold more Asian students than WJ or Whitman.

Wootton is not in Potomac though, even if they think they are.

When schools moved to hire much cheaper DJ’s instead of live bands in the 00s, that’s when the interest level began to wane. Now there are no local bands left that market themselves for high school dances. It’s different in California, especially in Southern Calif, but in this area, dances have hit rock bottom.

There are plenty of bands started by teens but not all want to actually play at a dance - they'd rather attend socially with friends than be busy playing.

I could recall that my kid who graduated from Wootton had a homecoming dance during his senior year, which I’m shocked after what you just said. Is it the PTSA or SGA that’s causing the issue about not having any homecoming dances and potentially no prom?

Yup, it could come back if enough interest and volunteers willing to plan it!
