Exactly. One of my high school daughters core subjects doesn't have an assigned teacher but I'm really thrilled to see the time and effort put into a ridiculous song instead of fixing staffing issues. This school system is a Greek tragedy.

I would be embarrassed to be out making you tube videos and posting on Instagram if I was in charge of HAVING ENOUGH TEACHERS FOR A SCHOOL* and I failed in that regard. These people lack any sense of shame.

This is ridiculous after they forced a lot of teachers out and into retirement. A Greek tragedy is a good way to sum it up. They talked about safety but then they don't follow their own standards.

Have you read many Greek tragedies?

Funny thing, MCPS does not read books anymore...

Fine, an excerpt.

Lighten up. The HR department wasn't participating in the video.

Maybe if they spent more time and energy and money on things that matter (smaller class sizes and paying teachers) it would actually help our students.

To be fair, 6th graders think absolutely everything is "cringe." But she's not wrong.

Honestly, even if it is "cringe," I think this is a good thing. One of my complaints about Dr. McKnight was that she never spoke like a human being. Every public statement, whether it was about something trivial or something critically important, felt like it had been generated by a focus group and then fed through an edu-speak AI generator.

Maybe Taylor is different, and maybe we will get better communication from someone who is willing to be "cringe" sometimes.

He’s all show, no substance.

Meh, McKnight had neither show or substance, so we've already got improvement. My kid is at Einstein where the Superintendent started the day. There was a lot of genuine excitement. I liked the video.

And, I was super pissed they put the kids on the news without asking parental permission.

Huh? News outlets cover the first day of school every year. How on earth could the school seek parental permission when that is both routine, and no one can predict what kids cameras will capture either at Einstein or anywhere in the county?

Many but not all news outlets will try hard to get parental permission or not show faces of kids even in a crowd. Did they put your child's face on camera?

Yes, on multiple news outlets. MCPS also did lots of postings of kids pictures. MCPS needs permission.

Didn't watch video. Did reporter talk to students? Before they do, they are supposed to ask student if they received permission from parent/guardian to speak to that reporter.

I saw two local news segments from Einstein this morning, and they didn't interview students, just the BOE president and the principal.

Miserable people don't improve society. Maybe they can win a war, but not the peace.
A positive attitude is a necessary component to achieving results.
