I just went to a baby shower in Manhattan this weekend. It was coed, with wine, champagne, and beer. The only non-alcoholic offering was Pellegrino. I am all for booze at baby showers, but am actually trying to cut down a bit myself, so it was slightly disappointing to only have one non-alcoholic option. A balance of the two would have been nice. Just one very recent data point I thought I'd share.

I think it's tacky for pregnant people to drink wine at a baby shower or anywhere. But not tacky to serve to non-pregnant people.

Why? I like to drink socially but definitely didn’t when i was pregnant. I had no taste for it and didn’t want it at all. It wasn’t hard to give up for a few months why do you assume it is? Do you think pregnant women are dying to drink and can’t stand the temptation?

Same. I didn't drink it, but we had champagne/wine. I am a WASP with a lot of old school older relatives who were there. They would think the opposite of the OP, it would be tacky as hell to invite people to a party and not offer a wide range of drinks, including alcohol.

In my friend group, yes we'd have wine. No one is getting sloshed, but many would have a glass of wine or bubbly. At mine there was definitely wine. I just didn't drink it. No a big deal AT ALL.
