Of course it's not. But when you're hungry you don't want to wait for someone to tinker with dough.
The issue isn't quality the issue is time. You don't launch into a long dinner project when people are already hungry

Pizza sauce is not supposed to be cooked. Fresh tomatoes swirled with an immersion blender, some basil thrown in, that’s all you need.
That's a choice but not thr standard way of making pizza sauce.
Plus even if he was making sauce that way, you still can't get around making dough rise. It's just not physically possible to make from scratch pizza quickly.

Yeah I'm coming down to "just ignore him." This is like someone saying they'll roast a chicken when someone's grabbing a rotisserie. People are hungry now, you deal. He wants to go pout, too bad. If he wants to make pizza for dinner he needs to actually think ahead so it's done in time for dinner.

Moved out of DC last year and am back in an area where there are a couple good $20 pizza options within a 5min drive. It is liberating after being in DC for over a decade and having to choose between chains, jumbo slice, or $30+ craft pizzas that are not suited for takeout pizza night.

That sounds enormously frustrating, OP. I feel for you. It sounds like he derives an unusual amount of self esteem from the pizza making, and also that he’s a bit of a control freak.
My DH, who is definitely a control freak, doesn’t cook, loves my cooking, and complains every time we order takeout, even though we can easily afford it. As a result, I order takeout for dinner most nights when he travels, and the kids and I have a lot of fun picking restaurants and meals. I sometimes do this for lunch if I’m working from home and he’s in the office. If there are times when your DH is not home, this is a good solution. I also agree with posters who have mentioned he should make pizza only on weekends.
