Look at the behavior of teachers, particularly over the last decade, and you'll understand why.

You bet, and no frigging computers. Real books, real learning. 40 kids in every class in the 60s and 70s. Yet now with half that number the kids are illiterate and can't handle simple algebra. The kid cries in class and mommy and daddy come rushing to the school to blame everyone but themselves.

Look up the percentages of prisoners that are dyslexic and/or functionally illiterate. Schools don't serve dyslexic kids well at all.

We're very close to needing an additional section at my elementary school but the talent pool is very small and shallow. The last teacher we hired wouldn't have been my first choice five years ago but in 2024, they were marginally better than the other applicants. I'm still worried about their ability to make it the full year.

Really wish I could go back and teach. The salary is one thing but I have a degree in eduction and cert expired. The website alone to figure out how to be application ready is a nightmare

The contract doesn't limit class sizes. It can't.
