If you end up having to do a little driving it’s easier to go from Bethesda to Gaithersburg (Tiburones or the new Quince Orchard Swim Academy) or Bethesda to College Park/Fairland (Machine).

I was hoping they did! He was a decent swimmer but not setting records fast. I think his 50 free was 41.23 seconds. I called Tollefson and All Star Aquatics and both didn't even ask questions but just said they're full. What about the dolphins? One of the teams I called mentioned them. I looked up dolphins and a few teams come up. Anyone have info on that team?
That club was Joe Flaherty’s Dolphins and probably would have been a great fit, but I don’t think they have a competitive age group program this year. There was a shake-up with the club and many of the coaches went to a new club called Quince Orchard Swim Academy which is in Gaithersburg. Try to reach out to Sea Devils, it’s a more low key club that I can’t imagine being full to the point that they would reject a kid with club experience.
Didn’t the team just fold?
Not a "fold", still around:

Not really. No meets and he lost almost all his coaches to QOSA.
You are using your own personal definition of "fold" that nobody else uses - "fold" implies that they don't exist at all, which isn't the case here.
Although no meets would be a deal-breaker for many, there is a whole cohort of kids/families that actually seek this out.
So, not a fold.
Folded as a USA SWIMMING club team. They now exist as a stroke clinic.

Not meaning this to be confrontational, but does this team really only allow Asians to join, or are you suggesting the OP would not want to join if not Asian?
For every 99 Asian kids they have 1 white kid.

Silver Spring Y is doing team tryouts in mid September when I contacted the coach. We considered it but picked another option.
