Ok but that's not a criteria. Our emergency bus contacts also all have kids on the same bus.

knock on their door and introduce yourselfAnonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:get to know your neighborsAnonymous wrote:Not a school post, though it's peripherally related: our kids were denied bus service (private school) because DH and I couldn't provide four (!) local emergency contacts. I work from home, so I don't have local colleagues, and he could only find two to agree. We have no family in town. Don't know our neighbors. The school said we can sign up once we come up with two more names, but I feel like such an utter failure. No question. Just a vent.
How? We've lived here three years and have seen them like a dozen times.

I'm sure they would and while you are lying in the hospital, your random contact will be looking after your baby.
Unless my spouse was in a catastrophic accident with me they would be the next contact. Then each of my parents, by the time we get to the 4th if nobody else is available we’re probably all doomed anyway. This is all so remote its not worth worrrying about.

Four local, non-parent contacts.

I do this. I use my non-local brother and his cell for my third emergency contact. By the time they're on my third emergency contact it must have really hit the fan.
The rest of my list is cobbled together from a retired neighbor I barely know (just moved) and a SAHM friend who lives in Nova but nowhere near us. We just moved but at our school I eventually transitioned to using parents of classmates as a PP suggested.
