Speed is important! Just got our butts kicked by a younger, smaller team, who were all faster than us!

Regular training MAY improve fitness.
But it doesn’t guarantee it.

Hmmm. Interesting. My kid has been with Arlington ECNL for 4 years now and I've never heard of anyone on the team doing a beep test or even a shuttle run.
Maybe it’s just for the older kids. Did you get a fitness packet for the summer? I do would be in there. If it says you’re getting tested, you will be tested. New AD isn’t messing around… i have my fingers crossed for a much better year than last year and I like the new vibe.

Even back in the 90’s we had pre-season / start of season fitness testing. We did a timed 10 mile run…based on the logic that soccer players run up to 10 miles in a single match…so glad sports science and soccer sports science specifically has moved on from the “marathon” testing to things much more useful to measure.
