Agree. Jakob needed an ego check, and he got it... in spades. I was hoping Kerr would hand him a defeat but to have TEAM USA do it is even sweeter.

Nuguse seems like a great guy overall. His face as he crossed the finish line lit up with excitement for Hocker and he immediately went over and congratulated him.

Hope to see all these outstanding runners back on the track in 2028. This has been an amazing Olympics so far for USATF. I remember several years ago there was an Olympics (can't remember which games) that went disastrously for the US men; they've gotten past that, regrouped, and now they're back and better than ever. Credit to the athletes and coaches for making that happen. Now we just have to get our relay exchanges right, and we'll be good to go. No dropping batons this Olympics, please!

Terrific run by Kenneth Rooks for silver in the men’s steeplechase. That’s another event the US rarely medals in (at least, on the men’s side). Dude was charging hard at the end and almost got gold!

Why would he run?

On the relay in the qualifying rounds. He is eligible as he was in the top 6 at the trials. Another DCUM type who doesn’t know sports.

Wait what? One, even people who love track would not know this nuance about selecting the team does Olympic relays for the 400, and of you are contemptuous of the people on this site why bother being here?

Swimming does the same thing. They announce the heat swimmers at the medal ceremony even though they don't get to stand on the podium.
