+1. Girls team the same. Can’t bump off anyone. They never change the point guards either
For cya?

So you are saying its really hard to make at team? Is there a better league that's easier to get on teams?
OP here, thanks. We are near Loudoun but in Fairfax County so it looks like these are are two assigned choices. A neighbor also mentioned Herndon as a chance? Does anyone know about the coaches for these teams? CYA has the coaches listed already but the other two do not. (Assuming as the previous poster said that its the same coaches every time).
Here's a link to the standings for all the teams last year. You can look up 7th grade boys to get an idea of teams for your son: https://season-microsites.ui.sportsengine.com/seasons/65248ffdd5d12a7eb523a1a6/standings?_gl=1*z49uxk*_ga*MTA3MTM2MTU4LjE3MjQ4NTEwMjI.*_ga_PQ25JN9PJ8*MTcyNDg1MTAyMi4xLjAuMTcyNDg1MTAyMi4wLjAuMA..
I wouldn't be too picky about coaches at this point. Just have your son try out for as many teams that he's eligible for and hopefully he'll get an offer or two. From there you can decide what team you want to join if your son gets an offer. You'll need to check with Hendon to see if your zip code qualifies for their team. Don't get too hung up on the coaches b/c no one here will know anything about them...I would choose any team in county over playing house if your son wants to play more competitive basketball.
agree-OP, you aren't in a position to be picky about the coach. Sorry.
You should take him to the Herndon tryouts. Their team was really weak and they might be desperate for enough bodies to fill out a roster to use a zip code exception on anyone willing to play for them. in general, teams that had a bad season will have more open roster spots the next year.
CYA lists two lowest tier teams for next year. You should take him to CYA too. Kids don't want to move down divisions so there should be some open spots there too.
Can you try out for CYA if you don’t live in Chantilly?
Not OP.

Anonymous wrote:My kid has had good and bad parent coaches, and good and bad non-parent coaches.
The only thing you really need to watch out for with parent coaches is when there is more than one parent "assistant coach". That never works out well for the rest of the players.
