I wore exact this type of sandals in federal and state court in northern Virginia with no issues. It is 90 degrees outside. No one should be wearing pimps in this weather.

53 year old lawyer here who had to wear suit and pumps and STOCKINGS in 90 degree weather for the first 10 (15?) years of her career. And don’t get me started on the suit, stockings and sneakers we wore to take the bar exam …

I'm a partner in biglaw and sneakers would be fine in my office post-covid too. But these shoes are not okay. It's not the formality that's the issue. It's that open toes are absolutely unprofessional in all settings.

I was imagining something very different! I think that if you have a good fresh pedi those work in general. I steer away b/c I don't like to rely on needing a pedi.

Hm. My toes are neat but unpainted.

Must have pedi in that kind of sandal. Birks, no. Those, yes.

Agree, match the dressiness of the shoes with the toes. It's like wearing a little black dress and no make up, creates a dissonance.

Toes in the workplace are unprofessional. No matter how pretty the polish.

Courtrooms and office buildings are air conditioned. Your feet can survive the 5 min walk from the car to the front door in 90 degree heat. Wear sandals out with your friends. Wear closed toe shoes to work.

What type of business?

Then probably no, sorry. Unless the meeting is with someone like AOC staffers and you are representing a crunchy lefty non-profit, in which case everyone will just be impressed that you're not wearing flip flops or crocs or something. (I'm joking only a little.)

I would be a no on these for men because they are open back flip flops, which are not okay for anyone in the workplace unless you are pregnant in second or third trimester. But generally I'm okay with men wearing sandals for an internal business meeting, not for a client meeting.
