My mom favors whichever one is a baby when it is a baby as she loves the baby stage. After that she seems to treat them equally. My dad adores my daughter, the oldest, of my children. Too early to tell if anyone will prefer the newest one instead of my daughter as he’s just 1 so doesn’t really have interests or anything yet. He's the first from my sibling.
This is my mom too. Once my kids had different opinions ( even mild) and didn't fawn over her they were nothing.
My mil favored the first grandson but now is too old to care about anyone.
In my family my mom's mom favored the boys' kids and my dad's mom favoried the girls' kids.
I always am guarded and don't expect much from family. Been let down too many times. I like the family my dh and I created though.

Not always. I was the youngest cousin and my grandfather definitely favored me. But I favored him too. We just had a special bond that none of my cousins nor siblings formed with him. They thought of him as a grumpy old man but to me he was sweet and funny and always made me feel special.

When she died, we found out she left money for her daughter’s future child. Her not yet pregnant daughter.
I’m married to her son. We had a child at the time of her death.
She left her only existing grandchild nothing.

My in-laws still favor the first (my DD) but my mom always just favored whoever was the youngest baby. As soon as a new one was born, by anyone, they were the favorite and the older ones were chopped liver.

I think it’s about how much time the ramparts spend with their grandchildren. I know my mother favors my brothers children and how can she not when she sees them daily and my nephew is super attached to her.
