Newark playground is a little like this.

Many Marylanders come to DC to use the parks. So, that tells me they're pretty good. The playground at Takoma Aquatic Center, Turkey Thicket, and many others attract people from all around. They playgrounds and pools are great.

And the rec centers have lots of programs for Seniors. Many more than the wealthy suburb I grew up in.

Who cares about the young when you can support the mentally ill living in parks?

We pay for these drunk old guys to be able to not work. I live by Logan circle — there are entire buildings full of them. Thats more important than parks OP.

We get housing vouchers and other giveaways.

A well connected and determined mom desired a playground like that for her own child, so she made it happen. She raised the money and got the authorities to agree. She lives in or near Palo Alto, so that’s where she had it built. It’s not rocket science. If she lived in DC, it would have been built in DC. It takes the right people with strong motivation and resources or connections to resources to make something like this happen.

And the kind of initiative that was shown to design, build and raise funding would never happen in the DMV. This place thinks the government should be in charge of all things. The west coast has a different mind set.
