Pack your favorite things that you already own.

Estimate what you would have spent on clothes (or go put everything in an online shopping cart) and then give yourself that amount to spend on the vacation guilt-free. Use it for a nice dinner, a boat tour or sunset cruise, a special souvenir, room service, whatever. You will be happier, I guarantee it.

No one at my vacation destination has any idea whether what I am wearing is old or new as virtually all of them have never met me before. Why would I buy something to show off to people who won't know the difference? I will, however, sometimes buy clothing while on vacation, whether it is touristy wear or just something nice that I spend way too much money on because I am buying it at a vacation destination. But I like to wear a nice top or outfit back home that reminds me of having gone on vacation. I still remember things I've bought and where I've bought them and it will remind me (usually pleasantly) about that vacation.

This is what you should do. You stumble upon something you like, it fits you, you have something fun to bring home. There's an actual memory inside your closet.

Instead, we buy crap from the usual online stores that is completely forgettable.
